Vlog GoPro Edition: My Husband Takes Over
Today is a very special day, the day that I, Mathew, aka Lauren's husband, takes over her blog!
I'm writing this blog while enjoying a freshly brewed cup of Bewley's Kenya brew coffee, which is my favorite brand here in Ireland. I brew my coffee with a French press, to get a bit of experience from the process. In the States, I used a Keurig machine with standard Starbucks breakfast blend and found it to be very nice and quick, however, then the only enjoyment is drinking the cup of coffee, there is no experience of properly tending to the cup. In the future, I think I would like to start grinding my own beans to really enrich the experience.
Sorry, coffee time is my favorite time of the day…anyway, I was a little worried about blogging because those that know me understand social media is not my thing. I do not have Snapchat, Instagram, etc. and the ones I do have (Facebook, Twitter) I only have because they were around when I went to college. A few weeks back I decided to get a GoPro camera to chronicle all the wonderful views I have had riding my road bike through the countryside of Wexford County, Ireland so we can remember the area 30 years down the road. This morphed into the idea to do a little vlog focusing on said rides and since I also like to run, I added in a few runs as well.
Since we arrived in Ireland I have been running about 3 days a week and cycling 1-2 days a week. Since the beginning of the year, I have cycled approximately 450 miles and ran approximately 250 miles. This translates to about 64 miles a month on the bike and 42 miles per month running. As you found out earlier in Lauren’s blog we are going for our second marathon, the Dublin marathon and I have a goal to actually run the whole thing.
I have to admit, my goal is not only affected by training or injury, I need more time in the day, or I need to play fewer video games. My favorite PlayStation 4 game right now is FIFA 17 (go Barnsley!), and my favorite computer game is Europa Universalis (go Brunswick!) but I am a very ADHD video game player and tend to have multiple seasons/games going on at once, such as MLB The Show 16, Crusader Kings, Tour de France 2015, Civilization V, Farming Simulator, The Sims…ok enough, but there are more, just ask Lauren. (I asked Lauren, she had no clue what I was talking about and thought I was just playing the same game every night)
Speaking of Lauren, Lauren and I also spend a lot of time together, traveling, eating at local food festivals, most recently watching all 8 Harry Potter movies in a matter of 5 days, enjoying the pub and hosting visitors. And we love each other!
OK my cup of Joe is gone…so I guess I will just post the vlog below…enjoy!
(Oh yeah, if you like this post, please comment and if I (Lauren said, 'yeah right') get over 10, then I will write another post in the coming months).
