Dublin Marathon Training Update: Best Parents Ever?
13 weeks until race day! And additionally exciting, 13 weeks until my parents are back in Ireland!
I seriously have the best parents on the planet. A couple week ago, I shared my concerns with them about not having any spectators to cheer for me on the course. I was blabbering on about how seeing family and friends on the course during my first marathon was the reason I finished. Seriously, every time I saw someone I knew I was recharged, and that boost of energy got me to the finish line.
So, what do Anne and Kevin do? Book flights to Dublin to be there for race day. I love them! They arrive the day before the race. And plan to set up along the course to cheer for Mathew and me.
It should be said that I am the priority for cheers. Mathew runs a sub-4-hour marathon. He runs so fast he might not even hear cheers. I run the race in a little over 5 hours. I need all the cheers I can get! If you are in Dublin on Sunday, October 29 and see me running please just shout my name. Even if you do not know me, Marathon Sunday seems like a great day to meet.
My training is going well. Really well actually. I reached a mile-time personal record last week, have felt comfortable on my training runs and in my group fitness classes, and have enjoyed my long Sunday runs alongside my husband.
Today I reached double digits, 10 miles! I am proud of myself, but the run was hard. The run started in the rain and the wind was wild. But there is no guarantee for a sunny sky on race day so practicing in poor conditions only makes me stronger.
I feel so confident and much healthier training this time around. Hopefully I am not jinxing myself.
That is all for now! Thanks for reading.
