Vlog: My St. Patrick's Day in Ireland!!
St. Patrick’s Day in Wexford, Ireland
I hope everyone had a nice St. Patrick’s Day! We had a blast! We celebrated the holiday in Wexford, Ireland with Mathew’s mom, aunt, and uncle. It was so special to celebrate with family.
We debated celebrating in Dublin but decided we’d rather be in Wexford to avoid massive crowds, overpriced pints, and, if I’m being honest, I wanted to celebrate with Irish people, not tourists. It was perfect! Since the holiday we’ve been traveling through the country and people have been talking about the crowds and queuing for blocks. Wexford was nothing like that. Every pub was lively and celebratory, but we were still served immediately and able to find seats.
Oh, we had some much fun! We wore matching Moriarty shirts for the day, and met long lost relatives when some Moriartys came to say hello. At the next pub we walked into locals just singing away, acapella. When they discovered our nationality they demanded we pick the next song. Mathew’s aunt’s song selection of John Denver’s Take Me Home, Country Road was a hit, everyone was singing. And at our last stop we watched a true trad music session. Some friends just brought their own guitars to the pub and started playing traditional Irish music for fun. We sure enjoyed it!
I vlogged throughout the day. I wish so badly I could have captured on video some of the fun mentioned above, but a dark pub and an iPhone make for one low quality video. What I was able to capture I hope still provides a snap shot of our day. Thanks for reading and watching!
